Night 1 Greek Mythology Story 1

Chaos, Uranus and Cronus: The Family Coup That Starts the Gods

Before Zeus throws thunderbolts, Greek myth gives you a father who hides his children, a mother who turns the earth into revenge, and a son who wins power with a sickle.

The world starts as a mess with no shape

Someone orders another round, which is dangerous timing.
Yuma
Yuma
The beginning is Chaos. Not chaos like your room after laundry. Chaos as a gap, a yawning emptiness, a no shape yet kind of existence.
Then Gaia appears. Gaia is earth itself, the mother floor everything stands on.
Aoi
Aoi
So the first real character is the ground.
Yuma
Yuma
Yes, and that matters. Gaia gives birth to Uranus, the sky, plus sea and mountains.
Then Gaia and Uranus become a couple, which is already huge because the earth and sky are literally pressing together. From them come the Titans, the Cyclopes and the hundred handed monsters.

A family photo where one cousin has one eye and another has a hundred hands. Seating plan impossible.
Group chat from hell.
Yuma

Uranus sees the monstrous children and hates them. He hides them inside Gaia.
Imagine being the mother and also the prison. Gaia is in pain, and the earth itself wants payback.

Cronus answers with a sickle

Yuma
Yuma
Gaia makes a sickle and asks her children who will fight their father. Most are terrified.
Cronus, the youngest Titan, says yes. He hides, waits for Uranus to come down to Gaia, and cuts off his father’s dick and balls.
Haru
Haru
That escalates faster than any creation story should.
Yuma
Yuma
Exactly. The first regime change is not a debate.
It is a body horror coup. Dad’s dick and balls hit the sea, blood and severed parts create more beings, and from the foam comes Aphrodite.
Love and beauty literally walk out of violence and foam.
Aoi
Aoi
That image is impossible to forget.
Yuma
Yuma
That is why the story works. It says beauty is not clean. It can come out of blood, shame and power.
Greek myth keeps doing that. The pretty statue always has blood under the marble and somebody’s balls in the origin story.

Cronus becomes the thing he feared

Yuma
Yuma
Cronus rules, then hears a prophecy that his own child will overthrow him. Since he overthrew his father, this lands hard.
His answer is insane but logical in his head. Every child Rhea gives birth to, he swallows.
Daisuke
Daisuke
His childproof lock is his own stomach. Bro is eating the problem like a dumbass.
Yuma
Yuma
Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, all swallowed. Rhea finally hides Zeus and gives Cronus a stone wrapped like a baby.
Cronus eats the stone. No due diligence.
No chewing. Just king level panic and one very stupid snack.
Haru
Haru
Fear makes him repeat the crime instead of learning from it.
Yuma
Yuma
Exactly. He thinks he is stopping prophecy.
He is actually training prophecy in a cave on Crete, where Zeus grows up.

Zeus makes the old order vomit

Yuma
Yuma
When Zeus returns, he makes Cronus vomit up the swallowed children. The siblings come back out alive, which is disgusting and useful.
Then they fight the Titans in a ten year war called the Titanomachy.
Aoi
Aoi
Family reunion by vomit is so bad.
Yuma
Yuma
Zeus frees the Cyclopes and hundred handed ones. They give him thunder, Poseidon the trident and Hades the invisibility helmet.
With that, the younger gods win. The Titans go down to Tartarus, the deep prison under everything.
Daisuke
Daisuke
So the new government is basically the kids after a stomach jailbreak.
Disgusting democracy.
Yuma
Yuma
Perfect. And the rule to remember is this: in Greek myth, trying to avoid prophecy usually builds the road straight to it. Uranus creates Cronus’s revenge.
Cronus creates Zeus’s rebellion. Power keeps eating its own future.
