Night 1 Greek Mythology Story 3
The Olympian Gods as the World’s Worst Executive Floor
The Olympian gods are easy to remember if you stop treating them like clean statues and start treating them like a powerful workplace where every department head has a personality problem.
Zeus is the boss, which explains the chaos

Yuma
Olympus is the mountain headquarters. Zeus is CEO of the sky, thunder and order.
Poseidon runs the sea with anger issues. Hades is technically a brother of Zeus and deeply important, but he is down in the underworld, so he is not usually counted as one of the mountain regulars.

Daisuke
Remote work, but the office is corpses.

Yuma
Exactly.
Hera is marriage and queenship, Athena is strategy and craft, Apollo is music, prophecy and plague, Artemis is hunting and wild spaces, Aphrodite is love and desire, Ares is war at its loudest, Hephaestus is metalwork, Hermes is messenger and thief energy, Demeter is crops, Dionysus is wine and ecstasy, Hestia is the hearth.

Aoi
That is actually easier than memorizing a chart.

Yuma
Because each god is basically a department with emotions. The trick is not just what they rule.
It is what makes them dangerous when insulted.
Hera has the worst job description

Yuma
Hera is goddess of marriage, and her husband is Zeus. That is the cruel joke.
Her divine domain is the thing Zeus keeps damaging. Every time Zeus gets horny, Hera’s whole department gets pissed on.

Haru
No wonder she is angry.

Yuma
The problem is that her anger often hits Zeus’s lovers and children.
Heracles gets a brutal life partly because Hera cannot punish Zeus in the way he deserves.

Daisuke
The boss causes the scandal and everyone below gets the punishment.
Depressingly realistic.

Yuma
That is why Hera is not just jealous wife in a cheap way.
She is dignity, rank and marriage, trapped beside the most powerful repeat offender in the universe, and the repeat offense is usually his dick doing side quests.
Athena and Apollo are civilized, which does not mean gentle

Yuma
Athena is wisdom and strategy. Not soft wisdom.
The kind that wins wars by thinking. She backs heroes like Perseus and Odysseus because clever violence is still violence.

Aoi
So she is the tactical brain.

Yuma
Yes. Apollo looks polished too.
Music, prophecy, sunlight, medicine, but also plague arrows. Artemis protects the wild and can be terrifying about boundaries.
The elegant gods are still gods. They do not become safe because they play instruments or carry bows nicely.

Haru
Greek gods are never one note.

Yuma
Exactly. Aphrodite is love, but love can wreck cities.
Ares is war, but war is often less effective than Athena’s strategy. Hephaestus is the ugly, brilliant maker married to Aphrodite, which is its own sitcom.
How to remember them without dying inside

Yuma
Remember the gods by the mess they create. Zeus creates bloodlines because he cannot keep it zipped. Hera creates retaliation.
Poseidon creates storms and grudges. Athena creates winning plans. Aphrodite creates desire that ignores consequences.
Hermes moves between worlds and steals. Dionysus dissolves normal behavior.

Daisuke
So mythology is a customer complaint database.

Yuma
Pretty much. The gods are memorable because they are not abstract powers.
They are weather, sex, war, craft, wine, crops and marriage acting like people with egos and terrible impulse control.

Aoi
That makes the statues way less boring.

Yuma
So Olympus is a divine company where every executive controls a major force of life, and every executive is one insult away from turning your week into a myth.
